Earthquake Rocks The Northeast

by phatmoon on Aug.23, 2011, under Another Day In Paradise

Where were you when the great quake of 2011 hit? This question and the answer will be embedded in the psyhe of anyone living in the Northeast today. Like 9-11 or the great Blackout preceeding it, it won’t be soon forgotten. Ok, folks in San Francisco will snicker and it can’t raise an eyebrow in Japan, but I’ll give you your props. It is something you’ll not soon forget. Oh, BTW Hurricane Irene is coming. Be safe.

Songwriter Nick Ashford Dies…

by phatmoon on Aug.22, 2011, under Another Day In Paradise

Legendary Motown songwriter Nick Ashford died today. If you grew up with Motown like me, you’ve listened to hits by Diana Ross and Chaka Khan and songs written by the extraordinarily talented duo of Ashford and Simpson. I loved their music. Goodbye friend.

SNF Cowboys - Chargers

by phatmoon on Aug.22, 2011, under The Game...

Great interception by Gerald Sensabaugh @Gsensabaugh was overturned on review. Great play though. Tanner was a beast. Bryant dropped one he shouldn’t have. Romo picked off throwing underneath coverage. These are preseason games. That’s all. The offensive line looked pretty good. Defensive looked improved under Ryan. Team speed looked improved.

NFL War On Runbacks

by phatmoon on Aug.20, 2011, under The Game...

New NFL rules move the ball to the 35 yard line from the 30 meaning it is more likely a kicker will kick the ball deep and out of play rather than allow a potentially dangerous special teams running back to field the ball. Although the move will probably reduce injuries, it also likely takes some excitement out of the game.

You can tweet me…

@al_m36  Ok, sometimes I can be a raving lunatic too, but I’m not holding the US economy hostage because I don’t think any Black person can be qualified to be POTUS. What upsets me is that most TEAPARTY supporters are shooting themselves in their own foot. That is to say, their actions devalue their own investments, throw their neighbors out of work as well as placing their own in jeopardy.

Now there is a lot of blame to go around. I think blaming the prez  is self-serving and destructive especially since he wants to put folks back to work. Some folkd would prefer to scorch the earth rather than see any job gains than improves the chances of re-electing President Obama. The trouble is the economy is getting worse everyday while there is a long time before the national election. Teaparty advocates call themselves patriotic Americans, but it isn’t patriotic to degrade and destroy the fabric of American life: Jobs.

On election day we’ll see what kind of America the people really want, won’t we?

Watching the Dolphins and the Cowboys

by phatmoon on Sep.02, 2010, under Another Day In Paradise

The score in the third quarter was Fins 10 Boys 13. This is the last preseason game and I can’t get a feeling how well either of these teams will fare this year. Twitter me @al_m36

This is an incredible start to the New Year…

by phatmoon on Jan.25, 2009, under Another Day In Paradise

Wow! We have a new president. I wish him lots of luck and good fortune because the future of the free world depends on it. He comes into office at this perilous time in history where you can truthfully say the U.S. economy is in a shambles from banking to real estate. Like, everything is broken, man! and it is difficult to know where to begin putting the pieces back together. That said, I am confident that President O is up to the challenge. I am impressed by his calm, measured responses to challenges and his ability to communicate with others, even adversaries and his surrounding himself with capable talent - all positive signs of effective leadership. Stay tuned…
